BOI clinic response beyond expectation
Visitors rush for investment promotion information
BOI informed number of people seeking for information from BOI clinic, only 4 days from the commencement of BOI Fair 2011 received nearly 100 information requirements. BOI planned to use this database tracking for further advancement of this program. On the information seekers side, they were agreed on urging BOI speeding up next year flood preventive measure amid the concern of recurrence of flood affecting to Thai investment.
Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit, Deputy Secretary General, Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) said that BOI clinic, one of BOI Pavilion’s highlight in BOI Fair 2011- Going Green for the Future which has objective for providing an advice to investors and prospective investors received overwhelming attention. After the opening of BOI clinic which started from 5th – 8th January 2012, over 70 persons came to the clinic asking for information. Most of them usually ask for the criteria for obtaining investment privilege from BOI, or wonder if their investment will be granted the privilege or not and how to receive the investment promotion. The business size are varied from 4 million baht investment to large sum of investment worth of 300 million baht in various sectors including agriculture leftover’s processing business, ready to drink coconut water and algae oil manufacturing business.
Most of them were agreed that advice and information given by this BOI clinic, was benefit to investors and prospective investors as they gained clear and concrete explanation from BOI officers specialized in each industry. The information from this clinic will be tracked by the officers for the progress of investment promotion further.
Other suggestions from investors and prospective investors toward BOI clinic mostly reflected their concern on flood preventive measure which became risk factor for deciding to invest in Thailand. They were also demanding BOI to provide more privileges in the investment promotion program. BOI will collect all these requirements for discussing with Ministry of Industry further.
As for the highlight in BOI pavilion, apart from exhibition on BOI history, there is the showcase of Thai leading SMEs’s success stories in the manner of sustainable growth under the support from BOI and 4D film “Going Green for the Future” presenting the future of investment for sustainable development.
